The Willie Bobo Production Group was founded October 20, 2001 by Mark
Gerald Douglas and Timothy Flynn. Having worked in professional theater
for more than ten years, the two of us were cast together in a production of
Sheridan’s “The Rivals” in the spring of 2001. After sharing many
professional ideas and concepts it was decided that working together,
sharing our theatrical knowledge, experience and resources, we could more
effectively pursue our artistic goals. Those goals being artistic freedom,
independence and integrity.
Our mission is to actively and aggressively create and produce works
that will be viable and humanly engaging. Beginning with stage
productions of existing plays, the group’s scope will include
original works produced in a variety of mediums including television, radio,
and film. The broad scope of our mission reflects our intension to cultivate
and reach a vast range of audiences and markets. Also to that end, are
our educational outreach plans that are currently in development. We
intend to send actor/teachers into schools to conduct workshops and classes,
spurring young imaginations and bringing literature to life.
Our goal is to
create a haven for a network of artists to put forth their voices and
celebrate the spirit of individuality and creative expression.
